The successful candidate will participate in the day to day management of client portfolios as well as playing an active role within the firm’s Investment Strategy Committee.
Specific responsibilities are:
- Meeting with clients to discuss their financial objectives and risk tolerances, presenting tailored solutions
- Analysis of markets and financial instruments presenting conclusions and recommendations to BIAS Investment Strategy Committee with respect to asset allocation, market timing and stock selection
- Executing securities transactions in a timely and efficient manner
- Preparing and maintaining all paperwork necessary regarding trades, transactions and client documents
- Documenting client communication in BIAS’ client management system
- Preparation of periodic reports and presentations for existing clients as well as proposals for prospective clients
- Review, analyze and restructure client portfolios on an ongoing basis to maintain compliance with the model portfolio in the context of the assessed client needs and risk tolerances
- Mentor junior members of the portfolio management team qualifying for the CFA designation
Minimum requirements for education and experience include:
- A university degree, preferably in commerce, finance or economics
- CFA Charter holder with a minimum of 3 years post-charter, private client portfolio management experience
- A detailed knowledge of financial instruments as well as experience managing portfolios for companies, trusts and high net worth private clients
- Experience in reviewing clients’ needs and objectives with the ability to recommend appropriate asset allocation
- Demonstrable record of managing portfolios and high net worth private clients successfully
- Business development skills amongst high asset-value individuals would be advantageous
- Strong written and verbal skills
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and willingness to work long hours if necessary
- Strong PC skills , particularly with database and spreadsheet applications
